Four letters paying tribute to the Roman Senate, carried proudly by the legions of Imperial Rome as they set out to conquer the world.

Rome was forever changed after an ambitious proconsul crossed a modest Italian river at the head of his legions, defying every prohibition as he marched toward the capital. Julius Caesar would bring about the fall of the Roman Republic and sow the seeds from which the greatest empire the world had ever known would arise.

But the Empire would be born through blood and fire, at the cost of civil wars fought by ambitious generals seeking to become Imperator themselves. Throughout its existence, Rome faced barbarians at its gates, and its most fearsome enemies emerged during the imperial era: Germans, Dacians, Sarmations, and Parthians gave it no respite and constantly challenged the Pax Romana.

Rome's military machine continuously adapted and improved during the first centuries of our era. The consul Marius reformed it profoundly by creating a professional army, while Augustus ensured that the loyalty of the legions belonged to the Emperor rather than to their generals. Successive emperors continued to expand it, integrating allied and conquered peoples into the ranks of the legions. At its height, nearly half a million men served beneath the Eagles - military numbers on a scale previously unknown.

The Age of Caesars is the SAGA universe that will allow you to set out to conquer the world at the head of the Roman legions, or to stand against the Empire and its thirst for domination.

About the 2022 edition of the SAGA Rulebook, Studio Tomahawk say: "The 2022 version of the Saga Rulebook is to be released in December! It features the fixes, updates and clarifications previously presented in FAQs since 2018.  We took this opportunity to rewrite some passages to make them easier for new players to understand BUT the rules themselves do not fundamentally change.

A few other changes brought to the 2022 version will be available in the rulebook FAQ update that will be released at the same time as this product. So a veteran player won't strictly need to get this new rule book, but for those who want an updated copy, without having to consult the FAQ, purchasing this booklet seems like a good idea.

So this is what the 2022 version of the rule book will be easily identifiable, "2022" adorns the cover!"

This game puts you at the head of one such warband, made of thirty or so figures, and lead by your heroic alter-ego. Each warband is chosen from among the available SAGA factions and has a specific Battle Board and SAGA dice which grant them particular abilities in battle and reinforce their identity.

This book contains SAGA's simple and innovative basic rules. They are easy to learn and illustrated with numerous examples. they apply to all the universes you might explore. These rules are the fruit of years of development and the contributions of a large community that plays SAGA around the globe.
